Brass of Peace is a scholarship brass ensemble that provides intense and systematic training once a week for talented high school brass players. There are no fees or tuition of any kind. Members are chosen by audition only and acceptance is based solely on talent and ability. With guidance from NSO hornist Sylvia Alimena, Brass of Peace members greatly improve performance skills, explore the finer aspects of ensemble playing and artistry with players of like ability. Members also gain confidence in public performing and public speaking. Brass of Peace rehearsals occur: Regular weekly attendance is expected. Brass of Peace events do not conflict with other major events or school events. Several concerts are planned including a concert at the Kennedy Center Family Theater and the Alexandria Lyceum. Students may contact Sylvia Alimena for an audition appointment at sylalimena@aol.com. No phone calls please.
